After writing about the yummy ice cream cones from Flanders, I had to add this recipe! This is just a good basic Vanilla Ice Cream recipe. Of course being from Philly, I always serve it with pretzels!
4 eggs
2 ½ cups sugar
6 cups milk
4 cups light cream
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
Beat eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating until mixture is lemon-colored and thick. Beat in remaining ingredients. Pour into an automatic ice cream maker and follow instructions to freeze.
Note: Use the freshest eggs you can find. I’ve used 8 cups of skim milk and 2 cups of half and half, and it is still good.
