Easter Memories from the 50's and 60's
Here’s my trip down Easter memory lane! Dying Easter eggs. The hunt for them Easter morning. Finding our Easter baskets full of wonderful chocolate bunnies and coconut cream eggs and jelly beans. So fun.Easter of course meant going to church. A new Easter outfit each year was a must have. Here's some of my family pictures from the 50's and a couple form the 60’s taken on or around Easter.

This was my first Easter. My Mom is holding me. That’s my sister Joan in the fun hat and my brother Bob in the sharp looking suit.

Here’s Joan, my dad, Bob and me. I’m looking at our dog Tippy. This was taken in the backyard of our house in Germantown.

Here’s me, my mom and Joan in matching Easter outfits my mom made. My sister is going to kill me for uploading this picture. This picture was taken in Ocean City.

Oh the Easter hats! We were just looking pretty snazzy!

This is Bob and me in our back yard in Ocean City. We used to have the whole week off between Palm Sunday and Easter. Actually, I’m thinking this picture may have been taken Palm Sunday, but not really sure. There are no notes on the back of any of the pictures. I’m just going by the year date stamped on the bottom of original pictures mostly.

Another Easter in Ocean City. It’s the whole family except my oldest brother Richard. I’m just not sure why he is not in any of the earlier Easter pictures. He was in the Army and stationed in Germany from 1955-57.

Mom and Me. Matching coats. Just had to have an Easter bonnet!

Here’s an Easter picture of me trying to look grown up. Good grief still wearing an Easter hat!

Oh my gosh, is that a bucket on my head??? I remember, the hat...gold color and those shoes and purse must be gold too. Loved that stupid hat because it actually fit my head! The suit was gold tweed with brown collar. I loved that suit! That sweet car in the background was my mom's '63 (yr?) light green Studebaker station wagon. They bought it months before Studebaker went out of business. This is my parent's back yard in Roxborough.

Here's a picture of me in my “Mary Poppins” red hat. Does anyone remember Mary Poppins hats? They had a goofy flower sticking up out the back. You can't see the goofy flower, but I know it is there. Ok, the ridiculous navy dress with the white and navy stripped tie down the front is simply crazy. I'm with my mom and nephew Kevin. None of us look happy in this picure.

Here’s me and my nephew Kevin. I’m wearing matching hot pink hat, bag and shoes along with ugly flowered suit! What the heck was I thinking??? Actually, my mom made that suit, at least it’s not smocked!!! I think this was my last Easter hat.

The hats are so fun. I can't believe how talented your mom was a sewing.
